Sandeep Jain (software executive)

Sandeep Jain is an American technology entrepreneur and software engineer. He is the founder and chief executive officer of OpsHub Inc., a Software company based in Palo Alto, California. Jain has held engineering and product leadership roles in enterprise software and is listed as an inventor on several patents related to software systems and database architecture.

Early life and education

Jain was born in Gurugram, Haryana, India. He attended Arun Rashmi Sainik School in Amritsar and later studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya.

In 1988, he earned a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). He subsequently moved to the United States and completed a Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1989. In the early years of his professional career in Silicon Valley, he attended Santa Clara University, earning a degree in Master of Business Administration in 1994.

Career

Oracle Corporation (1989–1998)

In 1989, Jain began his career at Oracle Corporation, where he worked within the Oracle Database engineering groups. His work involved database replication and messaging infrastructure technologies used in enterprise data management systems. During this period he was listed as an inventor on several United States patents related to database systems and software analysis.

He also served as Oracle’s representative on the TPC-C subcommittee of the Transaction Processing Performance Council, which develops benchmarks for transaction-processing systems.

Viquity Corp (1998–2001)

In 1998, Jain founded Viquity Corp, a company that developed infrastructure software designed to automate business-to-business transactions. In 2000 the company raised approximately $30 million in venture capital from investors including Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Atlas Venture, and JK&B Capital.

Openwave Systems (2001–2003)

Following his tenure at Viquity in 2001, Jain joined Openwave Systems as Senior Director and Product Owner. Openwave was an early developer of mobile internet software and technologies associated with the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP).

OpsHub Inc. (2004–present)

In 2004 Jain founded OpsHub Inc., a software company focused on integration and migration technologies used within application lifecycle management (ALM) environments. Under his leadership the company developed products including OpsHub Integration Manager (OIM) and OpsHub Migration Manager (OMM), designed to enable synchronization and migration of engineering data across development platforms.

OpsHub's software is used by organizations seeking to integrate software development systems and enterprise engineering tools.

Leadership and advisory roles

  • IIT Mentors – Jain has served as Chair of IIT Mentors, a mentorship initiative for alumni of the Indian Institutes of Technology.
  • Astia – He has served on the advisory board of Astia, a nonprofit organization that supports women-led ventures.
  • IIT Startups – In 2021 he joined IIT Startups, a Silicon Valley accelerator, as an advisor and mentor.
  • CleverDev, Inc. – Jain has served as an advisor and angel investor.

Personal life

Jain resides in Silicon Valley with his wife, Jyoti K. Jain. They have one son whose doctoral research at Carnegie Mellon University focuses on applications of artificial intelligence in software engineering.
