Samir Badr

Samir Badr (born April 2, 1992 in Fairfax, Virginia) is an American soccer player currently playing for one the most prestigious (Três Grandes) football clubs in Portugal, FC Porto in the Primeira Liga.

Career

Amateur

Samir Badr attended Robinson High School appearing as a goalkeeper for the varsity soccer team. Badr was named to the 2009 ESPN RISE high school boys soccer All-America team. During his senior season in 2009, Badr was perfect, not allowing a goal the entire season.

Professional

After finishing high school, Samir Badr, went to Europe for a trial with both FC Porto and Sporting Lisbon. Impressed, FC Porto quickly signed Badr to a long term contract. He currently plays with the reserve squad.

International

Samir Badr played for the US U-15 national team and US U-17 national team. Badr is currently a member of the US U-20 national team, and was a member of the 2010 Milk Cup winning squad.

Badr was featured in The New York Times Magazine as one of eleven Next-Gen American Soccer players.

Samir Badr is also in consideration for the US U-23 national squad for the 2012 CONCACAF Men's Pre-Olympic Tournament in the hopes of qualifying for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
