Samantha Heathwood

Samantha Heathwood is an Australian television news presenter. Heathwood was born and raised in Toowoomba, Queensland, but made her name as a journalist and newsreader in Rockhampton. She is currently the weekday co-anchor of WIN News Rockhampton WIN News Mackay, WIN News Townsville & WIN News Cairns.

Biography

Heathwood graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland in 2003, finishing at the top of her class.

Heathwood started her television career during university, when she began working at Channel 7 in Brisbane as an intern. She then worked as a researcher at Today Tonight until July 2004. She began working as a freelance journalist for Seven Queensland and worked for six months in the WIN Toowoomba newsroom. In 2006, Heathwood became the back-up News Reader and Weather Presenter for the Northern Bureaus, covering the regions from Cairns, Townsville, and Central Queensland. She was then made the north Queensland sports presenter, while continuing her work as a news journalist throughout the day. In early 2009, she became the co-presenter for news in the regions of Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns with Paul Taylor.
