SAIF Partners is a stage and sector agnostic private equity firm in Asia. SAIF Partners currently manages over $4 billion in capital. The firm has offices in Hong Kong, China, and India.
History
SAIF Partners was started as Softbank Asia Infrastructure Fund in 2001 with a $400 million fund where Cisco Systems and Softbank Group were the sole limited partner, and general partner, respectively. Some of the previous Softbank Asia Infrastructure members started SAIF Partners in 2004 under its present name.
China Investments
SAIF China has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Changzhou, Hefei, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou. Their investments in China include 58.com, Bona Film Group, Tantan, China Huiyuan Juice Group and COFCO’s Womai.com.,Meici and yMatou.com, Meize Wind Blade, NVC Lighting and Guodian Technology & Environment, Biosensors International, Dnurse, Huaxi, and Sinovac.
India
SAIF, one of the most active VCs in the country, has offices in Bengaluru and Gurugram. SAIF is an early stage investor in companies like Book My Show, MakeMyTrip, JustDial, HomeShop18, PayTM, ZOVI, PropTiger, FirstCry, iXigo, Inkfruit, and iStream among others. Some of their notable investments are Mainland China, Manpasand, IL&FS Investmart, and NSE among others. SAIF Partners India raised $350 million for its India dedicated fund In July 2017. The third fund helped push the Indian assets under management by SAIF Partners to over $1 Billion.
