Sahir Hashmi Adeeb
Sahir Hashmi Adeeb (22 June 1929 - 6 August 1999 in Kanpur, full name: Syed Mohammad Rasheed Hashmi) was an Indian Urdu poet.
He served the All-India Poonam Cultural Society in Kanpur as its President and the Adab-e Aaliya in Kanpur as Joint Secretary. During his tenure, the All-India Poonam Cultural Society published more than fifteen of his books on Urdu poetry and arranged hundreds of public readings.
He started Payam-e-Adab, an Urdu Magazine in 1947, which was discontinued during the Partition of India in 1947.
A selected collection of his poetry, including ghazals, nazms, quatAat, and , was published in 1981 as Naqeeb-e-Khudi, and a collection of Hamd and Naats as zikr Hadi wa Hidayat in 1999.
Awards and recognition
Adeeb was awarded the Hasrat Mohani Award for his contribution to Urdu poetry.
