Saad Rasool
Saad Rasool (Urdu, Punjabi: ) is a lawyer, journalist and an academic, based in Lahore, Pakistan. He has an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, where he was the Commencement Speaker for the year 2011 He is currently also the Director of Lahore Chapter of the Harvard Club. His area of expertise is Constitutional Law, and his litigation practice focuses on the protection and advancement of fundamental rights in Pakistan.
Prior to practicing law, for over six years, he worked at Wall Street, in the Global Markets and Investment Banking Group of Merrill Lynch & Co., in New York City.
Mr. Rasool has served as a Visiting Faculty at the University of Punjab, and currently teaches at the Lahore University of Management and Sciences (LUMS). He is a Gender Equity advocate, and is faculty for courses taught under the "Gender Equity Program" of USAID,.
In 2013, Mr. Rasool filed a contentious Public Interest Litigation before the Lahore High Court, challenging a ban placed by the Government of Punjab on the teaching of "Comparative Religions" and Biology in a private girls school in Lahore., Saad Rasool v. Government of Punjab, arguments for which are on-going.
He also frequently speaks at conferences, and was the TedX Speaker in Lahore, in 2013.
He writes a weekly column for the leading daily English newspaper in Pakistan, The Nation, and frequently contributes to national and international publications, such as Al-Jazeera. He has also appeared on the different national television programs as a legal expert on Constitutional and Fundamental Rights issues in Pakistan.
Recently, he has joined Civil Services Academy (PAS campus) as a visiting faculty for the 37th STP. He teaches Constitutional Law cases to the probationary officers of Pakistan Administrative Service.
