Ryo Hitomi

is a Japanese AV idol, gravure model, singer, author and television personality.

Life and career

Born in Tokyo, after some experiences as a gravure model, Hitomi started her adult career with the video Sensational breast commotion released in January 1996 by Atlas21. She continued appearing in several AVs for Atlas21 for over a year and then worked with a number of other studios. In December 1998 she was the inaugural actress in Idea Pocket's series of "Angel" videos.

During this time she also appeared on several TV programs, including being a semi-regular in the TV Tokyo late-night variety show Gilgamesh Night, and in the Nippon Television comedy show Super Jockey. In another mainstream venue, Hitomi had a role in the 1997 direct-to-video V-cinema horror feature Kyuketsu Onsen e Yokoso, starring Aya Sugimoto. In 1998 she released a CD together with the AV idol Yuki Tsukamoto. Hitomi also performed in the yakuza action comedy Break Heat released to theaters in February 1998. In 2000 Hitomi published an autobiography in which she described her male phobia, the relations with her parents and her experience in the adult industry. Hitomi retired from show business in 2001, and she later worked in a cabaret club in Ginza and in the beauty industry.

After a 12 years hiatus, at age thirty-seven, she rejoined the adult industry in January 2013 with an "image" (non-[...]) video, Come Back 12 Years Racing Legend: Ryo Hitomi, for the Madonna studio which specializes in "mature" actresses. Two months later, Hitomi performed in a video for the AV studio Rookie, Ryo Hitomi Back to AV, marking her return to hardcore AVs.
