Russia–Arab League relations
Arab-Russian relations goes far since the Khazars and their wars with the Arab Empire, but flourished most under the Soviet Union, with the USSR's support for several Arab regimes against the capitalist America during the Cold War, regimes like Nasser's and the Baathist regimes of Syria and Iraq, as well as other regimes in Libya, and Yemen.
But since the end of the Cold War, and the emerging of Russia, new ties have been made.
Arab-Soviet relations
The Soviet Union was considered a primary player in exporting weapons to the Arab world, especially Egypt, and Iraq. By doing so, it sought to PReVENT the rise of any pro-Western governments in the region. It was also a supporter of the Arab cause in the Arab-Israeli conflict, something that made Russia today have a strong reputation among the Arab states.
Russian-Arab Business Council
The Russian-Arab Business Council is an organization that develops the trade and economic relations between Russia and the Arab countries and provides assistance in establishing business contacts between businessmen. It has already established a Russian Based TV station called Rusiya al Youm (ar:روسيا اليوم) meaning Russia Today, in Arabic, it is the First Russian station to be aired in the Arabic language.
