Ruskin Company

Ruskin Company is a US manufacturing company founded in the Ruskin Heights area of Kansas City in 1958. Ruskin manufactured its first fire damper at that time with a handful of employees to service the local sheet metal market. In 2008, Ruskin had global sales revenue of over $400 million with over 2,500 employees. Ruskin manufactures and sells air movement and air control products for the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) industry. Ruskin's current President and CEO is Thomas Edwards. Edwards is past-Chairman and President of the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA). Ruskin products include fire/smoke dampers that stop smoke and fire from spreading to other parts of a building in case of a fire; louvers and air control dampers that provide fresh air for building occupants; building sunshades that reduce solar heat gains on buildings during the summer; air measuring stations that manage outside air; energy recovery products that recovery energy from build exhaust air streams; dampers for tunnel ventilation, process applications, and waste-water treatment facilities; and high efficiency fan products manufactured under the Lau brand. Ruskin has supplied engineered equipment on major projects throughout the world. In 1991, Ruskin was acquired by Tomkins PLC, a global industrial manufacturing company.
