Ruchir Modi
Ruchir Modi (born 9 July 1994) is an entrepreneur and on the board of directors of Modi Enterprises, K. K Modi Group along with Godfrey Phillips India Ltd. He is also the President of the Alwar Cricket Association since 2016. He is the son of Indian businessman and IPL (Indian Premier League) creator Lalit Modi and the grandson of Krishan Kumar Modi.
Early life
Ruchir was born to Lalit Modi & Minal Modi in Mumbai, India in 1994 and continued to live in Mumbai till he was 15 years of age.
Education
Ruchir did his early schooling in Mumbai, India from the American School of Bombay. After completing his 10th grade there, he moved to The American School in London post which he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Global Business Management from Regents Business School London.
Professional Experience
Ruchir is a director in the $2.8 Billion Dollar conglomerate, India-based conglomerate K. K. Modi Group. He is also heading a division in the K. K. Modi Group which is investing in the Fintech sector. The Modi Group (consisting Godfrey Phillips India, Indofil Industries Ltd., Modicare Limited) is an Indian Business conglomerate based in New Delhi, India. Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi (1902–1976), founded the Modi Group, beginning with a small family run business, then expanding from 1932 onwards. The Modi group currently has initiatives such as Colorbar Cosmetics, Twenty Four Seven Retail Stores, Modicare, Modi Academic International Institute, etc. As a director in Godfrey Phillips India Ruchir oversees the strategic direction of the company and heads the international business division.
Cricket
In 2016, Ruchir was elected as the President of the Alwar District Cricket Association and is still serving on the post. In 2017, Ruchir contested the elections for presidency of Rajasthan Cricket Association against Congressman C. P. Joshi. Out of the 3 top positions of RCA, 2, secretary & treasurer, were won by candidates from his team. Ruchir, whose father Lalit Modi founded the Indian Premier League, has been quoted in the media as saying that the entry into Cricket administration was his call while his father was not in favor of this.
Ruchir was given the bat with which cricketer Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in one over, during India's Super 8 match against England at Durban at the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 in South Africa.
Entrepreneurial experience
Modi Ventures, an investment arm headed by Ruchir Modi is one of the single largest shareholders in Peyotito, a restaurant based in Notting Hill, London. The 65-cover site serves Mexican inspired dishes.
