Ruben Gama
Rueben Gama (born August, 1985 in San Diego, California) is an American football fullback. He was an undrafted free agent out of Maryland University. He has spent time with the Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was released both times due to injuries. Due to his ruthless aggression and bad temper he has been given the nicknames Mr.Intensity and the Minister of violence by fellow team mates, he was also called the predator for his long braided hair. He has also had many off field problems that have started since high school that have led to game suspensions. He is most Famous for his tattoos and always doing a back flip after scoring a touchdown.
High School Career
Gama is a local legend at Southwest Senior High School in San Diego, California. Gama was a 2 year varsity starter nose tackle and graduated high school 2 years early with honors. Gama also had off field problems during his 2 year stay at Southwest, he got into fights at local fast food restaurants with rival schools and fights with classmates. Despite being suspended for 6 games in a total of 2 seasons Gama still broke many records. He broke Jermome Haywoods single season sack record by racking up 14 sacks his FreshMen year. Gama finished his high school career with 26 sacks, 117 tackles, 10 forced fumbles, and 3 blocked kicks. As for college recruiting, Gama was ranked #1 in the state of California and #5 in the United States. He finished his last 6 games with a broken ankle and his #50 jersey was retired in 2007
College Career
Gama chose Washington State to play college football but had to return home before the start of the season for getting expelled from school for fighting. He then attended San Diego Mesa Community College and was moved from nose tackle to defensive end. There Gama broke the San Diego football college record for most sacks in a single season racking up 16.5 sacks in only 6 games. The single season sack record would have been higher if Gama was not suspended for 4 games for yet again fighting. Gama then played football at Maryland were he was moved from defensive line to fullback. As a fullback Gama had 457 yards rushing, 33 pancake blocks, and 9 touchdowns. Gama then left school his junior year to prepare for the NFL.
Pro Career
Gama had a small stay in the arena league before signing with the texans. Gama has had small slits with the Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants,and Oakland Raiders. He is in contact with the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers for future contracts. During his stay with the Giants the coaching staff called him a Kamakazie football player for running every play at full speed and having no fear for getting injured. Gama scored his first NFL touchdown in a pre-season game vs the Panthers in the 4th quarter in a 1 yard pass reception he also did his trademark back flip touchdown celebration, during that game he tore his pectoral muscle in the first quarter but still finished the game.
