Roselyne M. Jua
Roselyne M. Jua is a Cameroonian scholar, poet, and literary critic. She teaches English and American Literature at the University of Buea, Cameroon. Her work explores themes of identity, displacement, gender, and the socio-political landscape of Cameroon and the African diaspora. She is known for her poetry collections and contributions to literary criticism.
Biography
After obtaining a BA (Hons) from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and a PhD from SUNY at Buffalo, New York she now teaches English and American Literature at the University of Buea, Cameroon.
Publications
Books
In 2012, she published the poetry collection The Betrayed Town and Other Poems, which explores themes of nostalgia, exploitation, and resilience. She plans to release another poetry collection, titled In My Father’s House.
She has written two dramas: The Barn and The Tragedy of Mr No-Balance, co-authored with Kwo Victor Elame Musinga, both of which critique corruption and societal issues in Cameroon.
Jua and Bate Besong co-wrote the 2009 book To the Budding Creative Writer: A Handbook, which offers guidance for aspiring writers.
She edited the book Emerging Perspectives I: Anglophone Cameroon Drama and Theatre, which examines the evolution of drama in Anglophone Cameroon.
