Rory and Wendy Alec

Rory and Wendy Alec are the founders, CEOs and creative directors of Europe's first religious television station GOD TV (originally know as the Christian Channel Europe). It was founded in 1995 after the UK government changed the law regarding independent religious television broadcasting. The show is used to promote their evangelical Christian beliefs and has rapidly expanded over the past decade to Africa, Asia, Australasia and the USA. Although many of the programmes on GOD TV are imported from abroad (namely the US) or from recordings of partner ministries, the Alecs still host some of their own programmes including 'The Rory & Wendy Show'. In addition, they have hosted a number of magazine shows including 'Good Morning Europe' and 'Friday Night Live'. The Alecs have also produced many programmes including GOD TV's 'Battle for Britain' evangelistic series, which linked up with over 2000 churches throughout the UK.

Wendy has written a book called Against All Odds which tells the story of the first ten years of GOD TV. She has also written Journal of the Unknown Prophet which she claims is a prophetic revelation given to her by God. More recently she has turned her hand to fiction by publishing the first of a trilogy called Chronicles of Brothers. The first book, The Fall of LUCIFER, tells the story of the early chapters of Genesis from the point of view of three Archangels.

Personal history

Rory (born Rory Alec Stephen) was born and raised in Rustenburg, South Africa. Wendy was born in London but moved to South Africa as a child. She claimed to have her first encounter with God there after living for several years as a rebellious young woman. Wendy and Rory were married in 1987 at a ceremony in Durban and have two children, Christian and Samantha. They ran their own television production house in Johannesburg before moving to the UK in 1991.

Criticisms

Some in the Christian church are critical of GOD TV's partner ministries such as televangelist Benny Hinn and of the channel's charismatic emphasis.

Some think God TV uses high pressure tactics in advertising campaign to promote 'independent' publication of Wendy's novels.
