Rod Dovlin

Rod Dovlin (born May 18, 1966 in Pontiac, Michigan) is a producer, director, and writer of television and film projects. He currently serves as producer for the NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood TV program, in association with KDOC-TV in Los Angeles.

Dovlin is best known for his behind-the-scenes documentary work on feature films for major studios, including Terminator Salvation, The Princess and the Frog, Bolt, Jonah Hex, My Bloody Valentine 3D and the upcoming Warrior (starring Tom Hardy).

Dovlin's behind-the-scenes work led him to syndicated television programming, where he contributed to programs including Extra, Entertainment Tonight, Hard Copy and Access Hollywood.

In addition, Dovlin worked for E! Entertainment Television, in an on-camera role as a correspondent for their long running series, The Gossip Show. Dovlin was offered to host the show, after the departure of hostess Downtown Julie Brown over a contract dispute. Dovlin declined the offer, instead taking the position of music reporter for the network's E! News Daily program.

Starting out in 1988, at the now-defunct PASS Sports (covering games for the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Pistons, and Detroit Tigers), Dovlin left Michigan for Los Angeles in 1993. Unable to find work as a TV producer, Dovlin began writing for a new local entertainment publication, AXCESS Magazine. Within his first year with the magazine, he had become the Entertainment Editor and brought in cover stories with celebs like Quentin Tarantino, Salma Hayek, Sandra Bullock, Robert Rodriguez and many others.

While writing for the magazine, Dovlin was approached by a casting agent who said that he "had the look" for a TV show she was currently casting. That show was Beverly Hills 90210 and, despite the lack of any professional acting experience, that chance meeting led to Dovlin's three seasons of work on "90210", as well as reoccurring appearances on the West Coast based soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful.

It was during this time when Dovlin was contacted by the talent department at E! Entertainment Television AbOUT appearing on their network. Dovlin became the first on-camera talent to appear on two programs (E! News Daily and The Gossip Show) simultaneously on E!

Uneasy with life in front of the camera, Dovlin began to work as a freelance television producer for numerous outlets. Dovlin's exceptional interview skills and easy-going manner with celebrities led to work for Warner Bros. Pictures, Atlantic Records, Walt Disney Pictures, PepsiCo, Sony Pictures, Lion's Gate Films, Starbucks and numerous other studios, labels, corporations and networks.

Dovlin was once rumored to be part of the cast of the TMZ television series. This was not true, however, the rumor most likely began due to Dovlin's involvement in developing TMZ from a web site into a TV series, but Dovlin departed the production before the series came to air.

Dovlin has also written and directed numerous commercials and promos for companies including T.G.I. Friday's and JAKKS Pacific.

Currently, Dovlin serves as Senior Producer for Black Diamond Media, Inc. and remains based in Los Angeles.
