Rod Castro
Rod Castro full name Rodrigo Castro is a Los Angeles based session guitarist. Rod was the guitarist and music writer for Day 8 fronted by actor Tom Sizemore and worked with members of Roardrunner recording group Soulfly and Geffen recording group Snot . Rod has written music for A&E shows including Gene Simmon's Family Jewels and The Two Coreys. Rod has performed live and recorded with a variety of high profile musicians including Rafael Moreira, David Campbell, Toshi Yanagi, Bootsy Collins, Robin Diaz, Shock G of Digital Underground, Celine Dion producer Rick Hahn, Producer and Engineer Skip Saylor.
Day 8
Day 8 formed in 2003 with actor Tom Sizemore on vocals. Tom Sizemore has been featured in movies such as Natural Born Killers, Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan. They recorded a yet to be realsed e.p. entitled "Motel [...]" co-produced and recorded by Mikey Doling and Brad Dujmovic.
Candyman 187 & Tha Havenotz
Hip Hop artist Candyman 187 (protege and "little brother" of rap legend Tupac Shakur and his entourage known as Tha Havenotz have begun recording an album with legendary music producer/engineer Skip Saylor. Rod has become the official guitarist for the group as long as co producer/writer and MusicAL Director. The album is set to be released mid 2009 and features artist collaborations with Shock G of Digital Underground, Bootsy Collins, studio drummer Robin Diaz, Reggie Calloway of Midnight Star, Rick Rouse of George Clinton and Burt Bacharach violinist Eliza James.
Upon working on this project Rod has become one of Skip Saylor's favored session guitarists.
Solo career
Rod's solo career was boosted when his single "Srong Enough" was featured on A&E's The Two Coreys. As a result his song was featured on iTunes and has received international critical acclaim. Rod is also working on his new band "No More Idols" and a solo record to be released in 2009.
