Robert Tell
Robert Tell (born April 4 1937) is an American author, poet, publisher and speaker. He lives in Farmington Hills, Michigan and winters in Hillsboro Beach, Florida. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and was educated in Public Health and English at Columbia and Long Island universities.
In his pre-writing career, Tell held senior management positions at hospitals in New York, New Jersey, Kansas City and Detroit. He was also a health policy specialist at an urban health planning agency, and held university teaching appointments as a Professor of health policy and planning. Tell was also the owner of a human resource consulting firm specializing in the health care industry. He sold this business in 1998 to devote himself to writing.
Tell is a member of the Detroit Working Writers, a century-old writer's group with membership restricted to published authors. He has written poetry, fiction and non-fiction, including many magazine articles, and a trade newspaper column—and has been invited to read his work at a variety of venues. He has recently completed his first novel.
Tell’s first published book is Dementia Diary, a semi-autobiographical memoir describing his mother’s sixteen year decline into the fog of dementia and his role as her caregiver. This book has received much praise from experts in the long-term care community and has been accepted into the catalogue of the Farmington Hills, Michigan public library.
Tell is married to the former Elaine Fritz and the couple has three adult children and five grandsons.
