Road troll
A Road Troll is a term coined by author, Jerry D. Coleman in his book Strange Highways to describe a seemingly supernatural being sighted by sides of roads in the United States. Coleman further documents Road Trolls in the sequel publication More Strange Highways.
Behavior
According to Coleman, Road Trolls are an unidentified humanoid creature seen alongside roads or highways; where they stand and glare at passing cars and trucks without apparent purpose. Road Trolls differ from Phantom hitchhikers in that they do not appear to be trying to flag down or make contact with drivers in any way, instead simply glaring at them as they drive by.
While they do inspire fear in witnesses, Road Trolls do not appear to be directly threatening.
Appearance
Witnesses typicaly describe Road Trolls as being a small shabbily dressed figure, sometimes with a gnome-like appearance; complete with a pointed hat.
Sightings
Reports of Road Troll sightings are concentrated in the North Eastern United States, with truck drivers being the common reporting witness. The phenomenon is not limited to that area however, with reports coming from multiple locations around the US.
