R.M. Sánchez-Camus

R.M. Sánchez-Camus (also credited as Roberto Marcelo Sánchez-Camus) is a British–American artist and researcher working in social practice and participatory art. His work has been presented by institutions including the Horniman Museum and Gardens, the Museum of London, and Artangel.

Career

Sánchez-Camus co-founded the Social Art Network, an artist-led network for social practice artists in the United Kingdom, and co-convened the Social Art Summit in 2018.

Axis identified Sánchez-Camus as lead artist on the Social Art for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (SAFEDI) initiative, an AHRC-supported project developed with Manchester Metropolitan University and Social Art Network.

  • From Birth till Death: Scrolled Life Stories (Horniman Museum and Gardens, 2020–2021). The exhibition was shortlisted for the Museums + Heritage Awards Exhibition of the Year (UK) in 2021.
  • Inner Rooms, Inner Minds (Museum of London, 2021).
  • At the Crossroads with Vincent (Artangel, 2014). The work was featured on BBC Radio 4's Saturday Review.
  • The Trial of the Mariner (Hoxton Hall, 2011). The production received reviews from Time Out and Londonist.

Sánchez-Camus has also been documented by independent arts-sector platforms.
