Risë Norman

Risë Beth Norman (born February 23, 1963) is a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York City (in their Corporate Department). She joined the firm in June 1997, starting at their Hong Kong office.

Education

A 1981 graduate of George W. Hewlett High School, Risë attended Dartmouth College and received her A.B., magna cum laude, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated with a J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1988 where she was an Articles Editor for the Stanford Law Review.

Career highlights

A former member of the Securities Regulation Committee, Norman is a former member of the Financial Reporting Committee of the New York Bar Association and a current member of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association. She is a member of the Board of Visitors of Stanford Law School and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Lawyers Division of the UJA-Federation.

Her work includes advising on the IPO for Nashville based Vanguard Health Systems Norman was part of a group of lawyers representing the underwriters in connection with $2 billion in notes from Target Corporation. and Precision Drilling Corporation when they were offering $400 million in Notes.

Personal Life

The daughter of Renee and Herbert Norman of Woodmere, New York, she married Ross Markman on June 29, 2003.
