RiftSpace
RiftSpace was released almost simultaneously with Star Wraith IV: Reviction. Where the Star Wraith series up till The Release of Riftspace in 2004 had been purely military, RiftSpace was a freeform mercenary game. It's successor is Evochron.
Story
An ancient Vonari prophecy tells of a mysterious system called RiftSpace, a system that will be found by an outsider to shelter a dying race. The player was to unravel clues and find pieces of a puzzle to discover RiftSpace, where the player would be faced by Vonari guardians of the system.
Gameplay
RiftSpace introduced freeform gameplay by letting the player select contracts, travel to other planets, and customize/upgrade their ship and their squadron's. A non-mandatory story was mixed with the freeform gameplay and gave clues to the player on how to locate a mysterious system known as RiftSpace. Otherwise, gameplay was entirely up to the player on where they wanted to travel and what objectives they wanted to complete. Players could also assign members of their squadron to complete objectives for them. This game also let players load beam weapons in addition the particle weapons onto their ship simultaneously.
Critical Receival
Players were in awe of the single player mode of RiftSpace and up till today, it most likely remains one of the most popular Star Wraith 3D Games. The lack of multiplayer and the cutscenes when approaching a station/planet were considered negatives, though. Based on the critics on RiftSpace Evochron was created.
Registration
RiftSpace requires registration after a limited period of use. It can only be bought in a pack with Star Wraith IV: Reviction nowadays.
