Ridah Bin Saleh Al Yazidi v. George W. Bush

Ridah Bin Saleh Al Yazidi v. George W. Bush (Civil Action No. 07-cv-2337) is a writ of habeas corpus filed on behalf of Guantanamo captive Ridah Bin Saleh Al Yazidi. Al Yazidi's habeas petition was originally amalgamated with Civil Action No. 02-cv-0299, a group of habeas petitions that included those of David Hicks and Shafiq Rasul.

Publication of captives' CSR Tribunal documents

In September 2007 the Department Of Justice published dossiers of unclassified documents arising from the Combatant Status Review Tribunals of 179 captives. The Military Commissions Act of 2006 mandated that Guantanamo captives were no longer entitled to access the US civil justice system, so all outstanding habeas corpus petitions were closed.

The Military Commissions Act of 2006 mandated that Guantanamo captives were no longer entitled to access the US civil justice system, so all outstanding habeas corpus petitions were stayed.

Boumediene v. Bush

On June 12 2008 the United States Supreme Court ruled, in Boumediene v. Bush, that the Military Commissions Act could not remove the right for Guantanamo captives to access the US Federal Court system. And all previous Guantanamo captives' habeas petitions were eligible to be re-instated.

On July 7, 2008 Brent N. Rushforth filed a "Petitioner's unopposed motion to enter protective order" on Ridah Bin Saleh Al Yazidi's behalf.

On July 18 2008 Rushforth filed "Petitioner Yazidi's status report".

On 22 July 2008 Kit A. Pierson filed a "Memorandum of understanding regarding access to classified national security information" on behalf of Ridah Bin Saleh Al Yazidi in Ridah Bin Saleh Al Yazidi v. George W. Bush -- Civil Action No. 07-2337.
