Richard Nordquist

Richard Nordquist is an American author. His works include Writing Exercises and Passages: A Writer's Guide—both "grammar and composition textbooks for college freshmen".

Life

Since 1976, Norquist "has taught English composition, rhetoric, business communication, creative nonfiction, and literature to several thousand students" at the graduate and undergraduate level. According to About.com,

He has directed a university writing center, coordinated a large composition program, served as assistant dean of academic services, implemented a distance-learning program, and published numerous books and articles on language and rhetoric. He is also a professional editor and writing consultant, and he has served as a visiting professor at Tallinn University in Estonia.

Since 2006, Norquist has served as the "Guide to Grammar and Composition" at the website About.com.

Credentials

Nordquist holds a "bachelor's degree in English from the State University of New York at Geneseo (with a year of study at the University of Nottingham in England), a master's degree in modern English and American literature from the University of Leicester in England, and a doctorate in English and rhetoric from the University of Georgia."
