Returner (liqueur)
Returner is an alcoholic liqueur made from Earl Grey tea leaves and it's one name of Japanese liqueur brand since 2013. Method of soaking Earl Grey tea leaves in alcohol what coax out taste and flavor of tea essence. Then add sugar. Returner only contains Earl Grey, alcohol, sugar. They say Returner is only one liqueur made by full organic materials and methods. The liquid color is deep red. The aroma and flavor of Earl Grey, bergamot. The taste is Earl Grey, proper sweetness. Returner is also drunk straight or on the rocks. It usually is used as the material for the cocktail with fruits juice, champagne, whiskey and other liqueurs.
History
Returner is a tea liqueur made mostly from Earl Grey tea leaves. It was invented by Toshiaki Aizu who is CEO/Bartender of BAR GRANDMASTER Nihombashi (Returner Japan Corporation). Initially Aizu invented his original cocktail composed of Earl Grey tea, Grapefruit juice and vodka inspired from the grapefruits tea of famous tea house at Yokohama. After that he developed “Lucie” that reproduce taste of his Earl Grey original cocktail as his first liqueur product. This new liqueur had a fairly good reputation in famous bartenders and professional people of alcohol drink. But he still had been improving the taste of his Earl Grey tea liqueur. A few years later Aizu detected the latest recipe that what perfectly extract Earl Grey flavor and taste. The recipe of “Returner” is especially that. He says Returner is all that could be desired. Returner was released in August 2013. Since then Returner has been loved by professional bartenders and cocktail lovers in Japan. Aizu changed his company name to “Returner Japan”.
Returner cocktail recipe
- The Returner—Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add grapefruit juice(30ml) and Returner(30ml). Shake it several times and pour into a tumbler. Fill with tonic water and stir.
- Returner Milk—Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add Returner(30ml) and milk(60ml). Shake it several times and pour into an Old fashioned glass with ice cube. Stir it in glass.
- Returner Mojito
- Mush a mint leaves by a pestle or a mixing spoon in the glass. Squeeze a sixth part of lemon and drop in a glass. Add Returner(45ml) and crushed ice.
- With Champagne—Pour Returner(15ml) into a champagne glass. Topup with champagne.
