Residentie Royal Ascot

Skyline of Oostende. The Residentie Royal Ascot can be seen in the background at the far right. The Residentie Royal Ascot is one of two ziggurat-style apartment buildings in the Belgian city of Ostend (the other being Ernest Feysplein). It is located at Koningin Astridlaan behind the Hippodrome Wellington and is one of the most distinctive buildings of the Ostend city skyline.

History

The Residentie Royal Ascot was designed by architect Georges Boutelier, who previously designed apartment buildings in the 1950s on the Albert I Promenade. Construction took place between 1978 and 1979/80 by the M&M Ilegems NV.

It is currently the home of Ostend Studio with nearby facilities such as the Kinepolis Oostende and the Renbaan stop.
