Reign of the Fallen One
Reign of the Fallen One is currently the latest release by Latvian black metal band Dark Domination. It is an EP written in collaboration with Austrian black ambient mastermind Hugin of his one-man project Uruk-Hai. The EP was released by Japanese label Sabbathid Records.
MusicAL style and experiments
With four songs on this EP, Dark Domination are continuing their approach on classic Second Wave Black Metal. Meantime, the songs are developed with increased musicianship, mostly due to new lead guitarist Halpas (previously of Mutilate Myself) who joined Dark Domination after the release of the band's previous album, Rebellion 666, replacing Lodbrok.
With this release, Dark Domination have returned to experimenting with black ambient sounds, as they were doing in first two albums, and have not included drone doom compositions. The solid, massive ambient tracks 1, 5, and 7 on this album are written by Hugin of Uruk-Hai.
This also is the only Dark Domination album to include rudimentary instrumental solos: guitar lead on song In the Name of the Horned God and bass solo on the title track Reign of the Fallen One.
