Rehan Allahwala
Rehan Allahwala (born June 21, 1973 in Karachi, Pakistan) is a entrepreneur and a Philanthropist .
Early life
He started working when he was in class 7 in his school, and started working for 3 hours a day, under the name of a company called Pakistan Computers. Later he bought his first company called Komputer Klinic in Karachi, Pakistan which was doing work for companies like Philips and Agha Khan Hospital.
He Started his 2nd Company called The Soldering Company at the age of 16, which was an out sourced electronics assembly line, again working for Morphy Richards, Philips, and wavetech.
While running Pakistan Computers in his teenage years in 1987, his goal was to resell Commodore 64 games to make a living and but more importantly.
He made hardware acessories like Voice Master a voice Digitizer, 300bps Fax Modem device, Serial Printer Converter{{PCSerial.jpeg}, Dolphin Dos, all for Commodore 64 Computers.
By 16 He started releasing Commodore 64 Games, and Was very famous in the Commodore game players, as before every game, he put his Name and phone number for 10 seconds before the game started.
He started his first ISP Service in Karachi, Pakistan by the Name of Brain Net, and ran that from 1995 till 1998, this is when he was exposed to international marketing and became distributor for Faxaway International in 8 different countries after a stagering sales from 40$ a month to $35000 a month for email to fax services from Pakistan.
Innovations
He is the inventor of patent pending (USA patent application 11/360,151)DIDXchange and Virtual Phone Line. He is the CEO and a co-founder of Super Technologies (incorporated in the USA December 29, 1999)
In September 2010, he founded the Mobile Monday Karachi and signed the startup in Helsinki, Finland during Mobile Monday Peer Awards 2010 event.
Telecom Inventions
In 1996 he became the beta tester for Net2phone software, and tested it for them, and later came JFax, a fax to email service, which made him want to get phone numbers also available from other countries, in other countries.
He began formulating how to make a phone number ring to Internet protocol to give users anywhere in the world a virtual presence via the phone number in another part of the world in 1999 and decided to start Super Technologies, Inc. in the USA with Suzanne Bowen to commercialize it.
The first product which offered number on a ip device on a dialup connection was Super Phone, and the service was Named, VirtualPhoneLine.
He also created ip-pabx.com, superfax.com, SuperphoneUnlimited.com which all needed phone numbers over ip, thus came the DIDXchange. DIDXchange initially a not for profit project, was later changed to for profit, as the business model did not fit to most companies when the service was free.
After a dozen interconnects with telephone companies, he proposed to them to join the DIDXchange. As of October 2010, DIDXchange serves over 17,500 IP communications companies with wholesale buy and/or sell DIDs with ring-to Session Initiation Protocol, IAX2, H323 and Skype as well as extensive reports, in-house billing and customer support with complimentary publicity for its ACTIVE members via DIDx and iTunes podcast channels and the Techistan online magazine. The DIDxchange service is often an included participant in peering forums such as VIPeering at ITEXPO West and other IP Telephony related conferences.
Philanthropy
In his early days of Pakistan Computers, he started a small group of people setup, which he funded from his earnings in Pakistan Computers, a group called DOST ( meaning friend in Urdu) and started planting tree's and fixing boards outside government organizations.
He kept doing consultation and councilling for many not for profit organizations such as edhi and ansar burney.
in 2008 he started SuperTec.org the helping arm of Super Technologies, in which he wanted to achive the goal of Organizing the information which was scattered and automate the Non Profits of the world, and dedicated the projects HealthManagementSystem.net and SchoolManagementSystem.net under this.
In 2011 February he decided that the root cause of all problems lead to Poverty, and took charge of this and declared his war on Poverty with annoncement of 1 million Businesses to be started in 3 years time, each in $100 and each earning $300 a month.
This is what he is now giving most of his time to.
Entrepreneur
Often looked at by many as putting too many fingers in too many things, his philosophy has been that if no one will do what is needed to be done, he will take a shot at trying to fix that problem, which has leaded into over 50 businesses by 2011.
