ReelTime Rentals

ReelTime Rentals, Inc. is a Seattle company formed in 2004. Its main goal has been to support a peer to peer (P2P) solution to the problem of proliferating broadband video on demand content that threatens to overwhelm the public internet. Using a new generation grid network pioneered by GridNetworks, ReelTime's content is streamed over the web in small pieces that are assembled at the destination computer, encoded and formatted for rapidity and accuracy, while retaining digital rights management control over the content and the rights of its owners. This enables content owners to securely stream DVD-quality video across the Internet to broadband-connected users.

ReelTime launched its service to the public September 12, 2006. It will join several other companies, like Movielink, CinemaNow, and Vongo that are attempting to change the way people receive video entertainment in their homes. ReelTime's "Point Click and Watch" DVD quality rental service is unique, as the other companies in the online video rental space offer downloads, rather than streaming video, for their full-screen high resolution offerings.

ReelTime Rentals is not to be confused with ReelTime Media Ltd *1 which operates a service in Australia (see *2).
