According to the promotion of the 5.1 Deluxe Version, which ships in two DVD discs, Redshift allows the user to observe the sky from anywhere on Earth from 4173 BCE to 9999 CE, record movies of voyages in space while listening to background music, watch 12 lectures and 50 videos, see the solar corona, eclipses, and meteor showers, and zoom in on planets and moons. Furthermore it includes a sky diary where users can see the dates and times of eclipses and meteor showers, look at solar eclipses simultaneously from Earth and Moon, and supports mirroring the image seen through the user's telescope. Moreover, it incorporates planetary surface maps, images of Deep Sky Objects from the Messier and Caldwell catalogs, allows the user to add new objects to the database or download updates AbOUT newly discovered objects, computes the position of 20 million stars, 70 000 deep space objects, a hundred planetary moons, and 1 500 comets. It includes the Tycho-2 and Tycho Double Star catalogs, as well as the Hubble Guide Star Catalog II version 2.2.01, and a revised Hipparcos stellar catalog. The software allows the user to print charts and perform numerical integration of cometary and asteroidal orbits.
