Red-Tiger Bulldogs

The Red-Tiger Bulldog was developed from a foundation of red-nosed American Bulldogs owned and produced by Rev. Scott L. Amos Sr., also known as “Scott Free” and his then international breeding program “S. Amos American Bulldogs/Free-Style American Bulldogs” with intentions of composing a standout Bulldog of distinct color and beauty, while harboring diverse functional working structure and ability, natural protective prowess, free producing sires, free whelping dams and natural coursing ability, (devoid of congenital breathing issues). In the late 1990s Rev. Amos infused Ca de Bou – Mallorquin bulldogs, Banter Bulldog and pure Old Southern White Bulldog genetics for out-cross vigor; This complex infusion allowed the Red-Tiger Bulldog strain to attain higher levels of health, refined structure; (allowing enhanced endurance) and a more cephalic head, jaw and respiratory system; (which allowed clean breathing, devoid of congenital respiratory issues) rather than the historically poor respiratory system existing in many other bulldog breeds, which stemmed from the more common and extreme brachycephalic jaw and respiratory that bulldogs in general were founded from.

Although some RTB’s exhibit a more cephalic muzzle/jaw and respiratory phenotype (look) The Red-Tiger Bulldog contains no direct Pit Bull or terrier genetics or Influence. While the Red-Tiger Bulldog was originally composed to be aesthetically authentic, unique and original. Emphasis was at all times placed on maintaining the total athletic, functionality and working ability of their true bulldog spirit and physical traits, never solely on looks alone. In the early to mid-2000s the Amoses added brindle Levitt-mixed Bulldog blood attained from Luis Rojas of Chicago, Illinois, by way of Mexico and red-nosed, red-brindle mixed-bred bulldog blood, both locally acquired as well as from the southern United States, such as Talladega, Huntsville, Birmingham Alabama and one Bulldog/Boxer strain in particular produced by hobbyist breeders Mr. and Mrs. Kendrick Swain of Atlanta, Georgia, to expand the genealogical stance of the RTB's lineages. Although inevitable evolution is at hand, the founding and initial developmental dispensations of this “breed” has been surpassed. The Red-Tiger Bulldog is now a beautiful, purebred, domestic, canid/canidae breed rooted in the history and archives of America. The RTB Breed is recognized by its principal/parent registrant the “Red-Tiger Bulldog Registry and Archive”, The Canine bodybuilding Association, the American Canidelogical Kennel Club and the Dog Registry of America, Inc.

Care

Red-Tiger Bulldogs do well in city and rural areas, regular play time and exercise is a must. They are active dogs and love to have a physical outlet. Minimal grooming is required with this short slick-coated breed; regular brushing and washing as needed will keep them show worthy. Regular walks will keep their nails at a healthy length. The Red-Tiger Bulldog requires a consistent puppy diet during the first year of growth, irregular feeding patterns, overfeeding, or lack of puppy nutrition can result in down pasterns and or knuckling over in the forelegs.

Training

The Red-Tiger Bulldog needs a firm, consistent and confident owner. This breed is intelligent and eager to please, yet can be stubborn and push for play time during training sessions. A brisk walk or short play break prior to training sessions tends to burn enough energy to curb this issue. Mild corrections and verbal praise tend to birth a positive response. Red-Tiger Bulldogs have a great memory and retain lessons quickly.

Activity

The Red-Tiger Bulldog does well in city and rural areas, regular play time as exercise or a moderate walk is a must. They are moderately active dogs and love to have a physical outlet. RTB’s are an “endurance endowed” breed, developed with a leaner and more athletic structure than common to many dogs of bulldog heritage. They are explosive, quick and agile, requiring mental stimulus as well as physical.

Behavior/temperament

The Red-Tiger Bulldog is confident and outgoing, always seeking to please. This breed is trustworthy, mild-mannered and gentle with children. They get along well with familiar dogs and animals although their Alpha Spirit and domineering attitude may lead to continuous bidding for ordinal ranking with specimens of the same [...] (most noticeable behavior in males). Strong prey drive leads them to chase rodents and vermin naturally; early socialization and obedience training is needed to stifle the possibility of aggression with strange, same-[...] dogs and small vermin-like animals. They are intelligent, discerning and very protective of their owners and their owner’s property and will undergird them even unto death. They can be aloof and intimidating with unannounced strangers as their watchdog prowess is expressed, but will calm right down with the reassurance of their master. The confidence this breed carries in its eyes and the bold posture it showcases, serves as a deterrent to any home, property or personal threat. The Red-Tiger Bulldog is always loyal to its family although it is imperative that the Red-Tiger Bulldog understand that human pack members are all superior to him.
