Rebellion 666

Rebellion 666 is the third full-length album by Latvian black metal band Dark Domination. It was written and recorded during the winter of 2005/2006 and released on May 31, 2006, via Evil Distribution — the first-ever Dark Domination's release on a Latvian label (all previous releases have been pushed by French, Greek, Portuguese and other underground labels).

Musical style and experiments

Musically and lyrically, most of the songs on this album are written in traditions of typical oldschool Second Wave Black Metal. However, on Rebellion 666 the band continued their experimental approach creating an untitled instrumental droning track. The 25-minute track was split in parts and appears as a filler between songs, just like on Dark Domination's previous album Let Satan Speak Through Our Lips.

Track 15 War March Against Christianity is an acoustic folk composition featuring bagpipes by Kaspars Bārbals of pagan metal band Skyforger and pipe band Auļi.

Bonus track Edasi, Saatana Lapsed! features lead vocals by Lembetu of Estonian folk metal band Loits. The song is actually the same as title track of the album, only the lyrics has been translated and sung in Estonian.

Lyrics of track 7 Af Kold Is Er Mir Hjerte (My Heart Is Cold Ice) are in Norwegian — as a homage to classic Early Norwegian black metal scene.

Production and artwork

The artwork was done by French painter Antonine Delas who created 10 surreal paintings exclusively for this album (preview of the artwork can be seen on Delas' website).

In addition of regular edition of the album, an extremely limited special edition was available. The limited edition included specially designed Rebellion T-shirt (the T-shirt was never sold anywhere else) and a signed CD with autographs by all the band members. This run was limited to 50 hand-numbered copies. Additionally, another first 50 customers placing orders via Evil Distribution website received special mailorder price for regular edition CD.
