RBW UK
RBW (Rather Brilliant Weekend, formerly Red, White and Blue) is the largest furry convention in the United Kingdom and the second largest in Europe. It takes place annually and attracts furry fans from across the world.
Background
RBW was first held in 2006, taking place on a River Thames party boat. The event included music and a live performance by furry comedian and musician '2, The Ranting Gryphon'. The party sold out with 80 tickets being bought for the event and over 100 people attending the daytime activities.
In April 2007, the RBW Staff decided to expand the event from a single day event into a full two day weekend convention. Whilst still centered around the boat party, RBW 2007 also offered attendees a wider range of panels and events, focused around fursuiting, art and gaming. RBW 2007 sold a total of 242 tickets.
Following the success of 2007, organisers sought to emulate the format of larger conventions by hosting the 2008 event in the Royal National Hotel, Bloomsbury, London. The convention took placed as planned, drawing approximately 290 attendees and significantly expanding on the range of events offered.
RBW 2009 is in the advanced stages of planning at the moment, with registration due to open on April 11th 2009. A new venue in London's iconic Canary Wharf has been secured and the signature Boat Party will return for a fourth year. The moniker of Red, Blue and White has been dropped in favour of Rather Brilliant Weekend
