Rash Behari Datta

Rasbehari Dutta was born in an illustrious family of intellectuals. His late father Ranbir Singh 'Amar' ("Amar Abadabadi") was a famous Author, Journalist and Poet of the country. His maternal grand father was a well known Tabla-Player, who served both All India Radio Lahore and Jullundur. His late father initiated him to music at the tender age of five only. Later he continued his study of Sitar playing in the Patiala Gharana (School) at Patiala, then at a Music Academy at Chandigarh. He finally completed his training under Pundit Uma Shanker Mishra, the equally famous disciple of world renowned Pundit Ravi Shanker.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Apart from acquiring Bachelor Degree in Arts, he is ProFicient in many languages such as Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and English.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Rasbehari Dutta started giving performances from All India Radio when he was eighteen only and from there he never looked back. Today he has carved a place for himself amongst the few leading Sitar players of the present generation. apart from performing in all the prominent Music Festivals and Music Conferences through out the country he has distinction of performing in the National Programme of Music by All India Radio and Doordarshan (T.V.) many times.

ACHIEVEMENTS AS COMPOSER

Rasbehari is on the panel of Music Director for Film Division (a Government of India's department for making films)and he has AbOUT hundred films to his cradit including many award winning films. He has composed music for many T.V. serials and stage ballets including "GANGAVATRAN", a ballet composed he composed in New York (USA). In addition to these achievements Rasbehari was a Conductor to The Famous National Orchestra of All India Radio and has many beautiful orchestral compositions to his credit.
