Rakesh Pant
Rakesh Pant is an Indian entrepreneur and co-founder of Trek The Himalayas, a trekking and adventure organization.
Early life and Education
Rakesh Pant was born and raised in Almora, Uttarakhand, India. He completed his schooling at Vivekanand Vidya Mandir, Almora, and pursued his Intermediate education at Government Inter College. He later graduated from Kumaon University. Alongside his academic studies, Pant completed mountaineering diploma courses at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi.
Career
After completing his training at NIM, Pant began his career as a mountaineering instructor at the institute. He subsequently worked as a Liaison Officer, accompanying and assisting various international teams during their Himalayan expeditions.
Pant has participated in over 30 mountain expeditions. These include ascents of peaks such as Mt. Kamet, Mt. Satopanth, Siachen, Mt. Saser Kangri, Mt. Nun, Kargil region expeditions, Mt. Changabang, Mt. Stok Kangri, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and Mt. Elbrus in Russia.
In 2021, Pant led a team of 25 trek leaders in a project aimed at reviving the historic Char Dham Yatra trail, undertaken in association with the Uttarakhand Tourism Ministry. He also served as Program Director for an expedition project conducted in Meghalaya.
In 2010, Pant co-founded Trek The Himalayas, which conducts trekking and adventure tourism activities in India and internationally.
