R. K. Mishra

Dr. R. K. Mishra is one of the Pioneer Laparoscopic surgeons of India. He has the distinction of being First University Qualified Master Minimal Access Surgeon of India. Dr. Mishra has taken his postgraduate SUPER specialized Master degree in Minimal Access Surgery from Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, United Kingdom. He was with Prof. Sir Alfred Cuschieri at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, United Kingdom. His thesis was the best in university and the revolutionary topic was on Optimum shadow-casting illumination for endoscopic task performance which was published in Archives of Surgery (Arch Surg.2004; 139: 889-892). He was Recipient of Lord Ashdown Award and Award of British Medical Association. The Review article written by Dr. Mishra "Laparoscopic versus open appendicectomy for the treatment of acute appendicitis" was published in World journal of Laparoscopic Surgery. Dr. Mishra has been elected as a member of more that 20 organizations all over the world. Dr. Mishra is an ACTIVE member of Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and Distinguished Member of European Associan of Transluminal Surgery (EATS). He is Indian President and life member of World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS). He is life Member of Indian Medical Association and life member of Indian association of Gastro-Intestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES). He is the prominent figure in editorial board of World Journal of Laparoscopic Surgery.

He is the visiting faculty of many leading hospitals of world like Iranian Hospital, Dubai; Gulu Independent Hospital, Uganda, King and Edward Hospital, Kenya and Iranian Medical University, Tehran. He is the main faculty and one who has started first time in the history of Dubai, 10 days Laparoscopic Training course with 70 hours CME recognized by Department Of Health and medical services Government of Dubai and European Union of Medical Specialists. Dr. Mishra is a well renowned surgeon who has made gesticulation in the field of Laparoscopic Surgery with his exceptional and unique laparoscopic skills, innovative & cost effective procedures and research.

In 2001, Dr. R.K.Mishra felt that Laparoscopy as a science was undergoing profound changes, switching from the industrial era into that of the information era. In this context, he founded LAPAROSCOPY HOSPITAL dedicated to improving the status of Minimal Access Surgery. The idea was to create a center where healthcare professionals, surgeons, researchers, engineers and computer scientists could combine their energies in a dedicated and dynamic institute. Such a center did not exist in Asia. Laparoscopic training conducted under direction of Dr. R. K. Mishra has got International recognition with World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS) ®.More than 1,500 surgeons from every corner of globe have already been successfully trained at LAPAROSCOPY HOSPITAL.

He has been invited to establish advanced laparoscopic surgery and laparoscopic training in many countries including Africa, Iran and UAE. Dr. Mishra is involved in starting structured laparoscopic training program in many leading Institutes of the world. He has established laparoscopic training institute in more than 12 countries with the help of World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons.

Dr. R.K.Mishra is the author of textbook "Text Book of Laparoscopic Surgery for General Surgeons and Gynaecologists" Published by India's leading Medical Publisher Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd. Dr. Mishra has published various articles on Laparoscopy in many leading journals of the world e.g. Laparoscopic light cable and light source, Problems due to injury of Cystohepatic duct and Duct of Luschka in laparoscopic surgery, Recently in Current Medical Journal of India his article Complications of Laparoscopic Surgery has brought to light many errors commonly overlooked during surgery.
