Biography

Quince Galloway was born in Alma,Arkansas on August 16,1912. He died in San Leandro, California on September 21, 2003.
He attended college in Arkansas and moved to Oakland, California in 1931 to study art at the Fox-Morgan School. He soon married artist Janice Webster and settled nearby in San Leandro. For several years he studied locally with Robert Rischell and Van Waldon. Working in pastel, oil, watercolor, and acrylic, he produced a variety of subjects which included still lifes and scenes of the San Francisco Bay area. His paintings are realistically depicted with strong light and shadow patterns.
He was a member: Oakland Art Association, San Leandro Art Association and Society of Western Artists. He exhibited at Oakland Art Gallery, 1939. Some of his Works is now held at San Leandro Library and Casa Peralta (San Leandro).
