Pyro Music

Pyro Music, or simply the genre of Pyro, is a MusicAL genre that blends elements of comedy with pop and hip hop in a simplistic, often-improvised manner using GeneRally lo-fi production standards.

Pyro is constantly evolving and, in most cases, features artists that have not yet mastered the art of making music. As a result, Pyro generally exists as a platform in which to begin a legitimate musical career. Concordantly, Pyro Music may also be a fun side-project to a legitimate musical artist.

This fairly recent genre of music is still relatively unknown to most of the world, yet is growing increasingly popular amongst teenagers and young adults.

Origins

Due to the relatively underground culture of pyro music, it cannot be certain as to what, if any artist, pioneered this genre, or when such a development occurred. However, it was in 2001 when the now-defunct music group, Pyro 3, helped define the genre, and it is to them that the genre is now named after.

Artists

In order to fully understand the concept of Pyro music, one must first understand, for all practical purposes, the pioneers of this genre.

Originally formed in 2000, Pyro 3 was a band with three members: The Duraflame, The Orangutan, and Saggy B. All three members were, at the time, under the age of 18. However, despite their age and musical limitations, the group managed to gain significant popularity on the internet via the MP3.com artist community primarily because of the charm of the style of music, which is now known as "pyro." Pyro 3 songs were always improvised on the spot and usually contained no musical instruments, opting instead to use beatboxing, humming, whistling, physical theatre, singing, and freestyle rapping. The group released their first album, "Light My Fire," in May of 2001 to limited, and therefore moderate, success. However, by their disbanding in late 2002, the group had already left their mark on an ever-changing music industry, and have since influenced several other groups who can be associated with Pyro music.

Possibly the most influential and successful Pyro artist today is Butt Nugget and the Silent Cane. Butt Nugget and the Silent Cane is a one-man band from The Woodlands, TX that began in August of 2002. The artist is widely regarded as one of the top musical comedy acts in internet history and personally cites Pyro 3 as an influence on his music. In fact, in his early career, Butt Nugget and the Silent Cane's music was almost indistinguishable from Pyro 3's music. However, over the course of his short, yet busy (the artist has released 7 full-length albums and 3 EP's), career, Butt Nugget and the Silent Cane's music has evolved significantly, having both an R&B and a pop album in his musical library. His eighth full-length album, "Brand New Sensation" was released in February 2006.

The following artists are also examples of Pyro Music:

-Pyro 2 -The Mega Racist Hater Clan -The [...]-Asians -Courtesy Flush

-Atom and His Package is a mainstream artist whose music is similar to pyro music.

Future

It is hard to imagine Pyro Music ever becoming a mainstream musical genre due to the underground and narrow audience that the genre has. However, to the thousands of fans currently induldging in this style of music, the current state is enough. Indeed, their numbers are growing by the day.
