Project Damage Control
Project Damage Control is a MusicAL project formed by musicians from several Christian rock bands. The band released an eponymous debut album in 2005, and is currently working on a second one.
History
The band started when guitarists Alan Sandifer and Phil Bland, singer Wayne Howard, and engineer Brent Handy - all members of 80s rock bands Picture This and Heart Attack - reunited around 2004 with the intention of re-recording some of their old material. As they gathered themselves together, they contacted the remaining members, drummer Stan Lindley and bassist Randy Smith.
Guitarist Bland was living in Texas at the time, and was unable to play. Still, the other members managed to record, mix, and master an album. Unfortunately, after a computer crash, they lost all the material. Also, singer Howard had a motorcycle accident that severely injured his hips and legs. After his recovery, they started recording again, even after bassist Smith left the project.
During the delays, Sandifer, Howard, and Handy began developing new material. Howard wrote some new lyrics as a result of his accident, and they managed to record a New album. However, the project was shelved due to other commitments. Still, Handy mixed some of the completed songs and made them available through the Internet to see the response. It was so positive that they started inviting some musician friends to help them polish the material.
Two of the musicians that stepped in and contributed to the project were singer John Schlitt (Petra, Head East), drummer Louie Weaver (Petra, Viktor), and George New, among others. The final album - Project Damage Control - was finally released in March 15, 2005 receiving positive reviews.
As of 2007, the band is working on a second album. Bassist Greg Bailey, who played for Petra during the band's last years, will play in the album. Recently, it was announced that guitarist George New had been diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis. He is undergoing treatment, but is still playing with the band.
