Priyanka Sinha Jha

Priyanka Sinha Jha, is a journalist, editor, author and digital media presenter and moderator specializing in lifestyle and Bollywood content.

Early life and background

After finishing her PG in Journalism, Priyanka cut her teeth as a correspondent at Citadel, Pune (a city magazine), shortly thereafter she moved to Mumbai to work as a correspondent at The Asian Age (a national daily). She did take a short stint with Intelligent Investor/Outlook Money (a personal finance magazine) in Delhi. But, she soon returned to Mumbai to join Society Magazine (a national celebrity magazine) as the senior correspondent. She then started her stint as an editor at 26, with Society magazine and followed it up with the editorship of HT Style (a daily lifestyle supplement) and HT Saturday (now called HT Café) the Saturday edition of The Hindustan Times.

Career

In a career spanning over 15 years, she has written on varied subjects such as entertainment, art, business, crime, trends and celebrities and their lifestyles. She is among the few editors who have had the experience of editing and writing for magazines and newspapers and online websites on varied subjects.

In her capacity as the Editor of Screen, India's oldest and only film and entertainment broadsheet/tabloid-style magazine, Priyanka has been the architect of a number of key event initiatives at Screen, such as Screen Big Picture (panel discussions among industry bigwigs about trends in Bollywood), Screen Chatroom (Q &A sessions with leading film stars) and Screen Preview (interactions with the director and the principal cast of an upcoming film). Priyanka Sinha Jha' is also in charge of the curating and instituting the Jury for the awards selection procedure, and also for organizing and overseeing the functioning of the awards process for the annualStar Screen Awards(considered the most fair-minded and credible film awards, headed by an impartial film-industry jury). To expand the scope and influence of theStar Screen Awards'', in 2010, Priyanka also introduced the Screen Academy, a selection academy that comprises leading names from the film industry as its members, and acts as a selection committee for award nominees.

She has written popular columns for publications such as Rough Cut (Screen), Hear & Now (H T Style) and Point of View (Society), PlayReel (Indian Express-Play) in addition to contributing to publications such as HT Brunch, thewire.in, Lokmat Times, Outlook Magazine, Tehelka and, The Week.

She also regularly moderates live-discussions at events or for special occasions. She has moderated discussions on Bollywood celebrities and trends for Jet Wings magazine, Pune International Literature Festival, Kumaon Literature Festival, as well as Co-hosted Express Adda for the Express group.

Priyanka was honored with the Young Communicator Award by the ISB&M School of Communication (Pune) for her contribution to journalism and was also featured in a Doordarshan's series dedicated to Women Achievers.

Priyanka has also founded an entertainment blogazine, where she writes about popular trends in Bollywood films, pop culture and the arts.

Personal life

Priyanka Sinha Jha is married to Fimmaker /Author, Piyush Jha. They live in Mumbai.

Bibliography

Priyanka has also written a self-help book based on her experiences in Bollywood, Supertraits of Superstars. In this book, Priyanka looks at eleven luminaries from Bollywood, and the attribute that is perhaps most responsible for their success. She details their stories, their struggles, their efforts to overcome setbacks, and what it is about them that made them not just reach the top of their game but stay there. Be it Amitabh Bachchan’s discipline, Aamir Khan’s perfectionist nature, Salman Khan’s generosity, John Abraham’s enterprise or Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s grace—each star has one unique quality that others can imbibe to reach greater heights in their own lives.
