Barista Bash 003
The third Louisville Barista Bash was held on September 17, 2010. This was the first latte art competition to be won by an individual outside of the state of Kentucky. Sarah Reynolds of Alliance World Coffees in Muncie, Indiana made several excellent and artistic pours to take home the prize.
Barista Bash 004
The fourth Louisville Barista Bash was held on December 3, 2010. Instead of a latte art competition, a by-the-cup brewing competition was held where baristas and home coffee enthusiasts competed by (1) choosing their coffee beans, (2) choosing their favorite brewing method, (3) demonstrating that method for the judges and audience, and (4) educating the viewers on the coffee as well as the brew method. Chris Heiniger, a barista at Sunergos Coffee, won the grand prize by brewing a Panama coffee in an Eva Solo brewer. A highlight of the night was Barismo Coffee's Jaime Van Schyndel and his presentation on various happenings in the coffee world.
