Pressman Advertising Limited (Pressman) is one of India’s oldest independent agencies. The agency was founded by H.C. Suchanti (1922-1993) in Kolkata in the mid 60s. Pressman offers advertising, public relations, design and digital solutions. It has a network of 12 offices across India and employs over 100 people in its four divisions.
History
History: Pressman was founded in Kolkata by H.C. Suchanti as Pressman Advertising & Marketing in the mid 60s as a one man agency. The agency received INS (Indian Newspaper Society) accreditation in 1968. The agency set up its Mumbai office in 1978 followed by offices in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and other cities. In 2008, the agency was rechristened as Pressman Advertising Ltd.
Pressman is best known among the earliest Indian agencies to develop financial communications as a specialist discipline. The agency has been associated with a large number of major public share offerings in the Indian capital market.
During this period, Pressman also developed a model for communications support for such offerings which has, in many ways, become the industry standard and replicated many times since.
In 1993, its founder H.C. Suchanti died and the reins of the agency were taken over by his sons Dr. Niren Suchanti and Navin Suchanti. In 1993, Pressman won the Pioneer Award for Excellent Advertising in Newspapers.
Pressman ranked among the top agencies in the country (No.15 in 1998-1999; No.10 in 1999-2000 and No.12 in 2000-2001).
In 1999, H.C. Suchanti’s grandson Rohan Suchanti (son of Dr. Niren Suchanti) joined the agency after completing his undergraduate studies in the USA.
In 2005, Pressman became a member of ECCO International Public Relations Ltd., a leading global network of independent PR agencies. Subsequently, the agency has also subscribed to the share capital of ECCO International.
Rohan Suchanti passed away on 19 November 2009 at the young age of 34.
Pressman is India’s only full service agency with ISO 9001:2008 certification. It is accreditated with INS and DAVP (Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity) and a member of ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulation), AAAI (Advertising Agencies Association of India), IBF (Indian Broadcasting Federation) and ASCI (Advertising Standards Council of India).
