Pre-fab Post and Beam homes Europe

High-end, prefabricated post and beam constructed homes are gaining popularity in Europe. Following the 2005 broadcast of the Channel 4 (UK) show "Grand Designs", interest has increased for homes from manufacturers like HUF HAUS and DAVINCI HAUS. GeneRally, pre-fabricated homes in Europe have a better reputation then their American counterparts. In Germany, entire villages of pre-fab home manufacturers show homes have been set up near major cities centers.

DAVINCI HAUS GmbH

Davinci Haus is a pre-fabricated home builder based in Elben, Germany, AbOUT an hour outside Cologne. Although the company has been building homes for decades, it has since the mid ‘70s been building distinctive post and beam homes with an architectural style that can be described as a cross between Bauhaus and traditional Japanese. The post and beam construction, which eliminates the need for load-bearing walls, allows for the open plan and a generous use of interior and exterior glass. The DAVINCI HAUS signature style is their black and white house, which has white interior and exterior walls and black posts, beams, roof, doors and trim.

HUF HAUS GmbH

Huf Haus, based in Hartenfels, Germany, is another pre-fabricated home builder in Europe with a similar post and beam construction system and a wider range of homes. HUF HAUS is a larger company catering to a more affluent clientele. Both DAVINCI and HUF sell homes all over Europe, including the UK and Ireland.

Homes like these often contrast greatly with the more conservative, stucco-side homes found in Europe. Although major sections of these homes are assembled in factories with factory-scale efficiencies, these homes generally cost more then a typical European home of the same size. In the case of HUF HAUS, a lot more.
