Strengthening the hand that rocks the cradle
One of the greatest contributions of Padmashri Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil is in the field of education of rural girls. He often used to say education of woman means education for the whole family. When The INDIAN society was influenced by gender inequality and giving secondary status to women, Padmashri was very firm in imparting education of women. Thus Pravara Kanya Vidya Mandir was established in 1969. It has achieved the distraction of being one of the largest residential high schools for girls in rural Maharashtra. More than 2000 girls from all over the state are studying here. The school imparts education from pre-primary to higher secondary levels to girls making them self -reliant and self- sufficient. It is pertinent to add enrolment of girl students in PRES (Pravara Rural Education Society) High Schools is 42% which is well above the national average.
