Prados Mishra

Prados Mishra (born January 12, 1953) is an eminent Oriya writer. He has been the writer of many short stories and novels specializing on the subject of human psychology, grass root people and family ties.

Many of his literary works have been translated into various Indian languages including Hindi and Telgu.

Early Life

Prados Mishra was born in the village of Tarading, Athagarh sub division in Cuttack district. His father was a freedom fighter and participated in the Prajamandala Andolan. His mother was from the Rajguru family. He was the nephew of JayKrushna Mishra, the eminent poet of India.

His preliminary education was in the Athgarh high school. He finished his graduation from the BJB college in Bhubaneswar. He holds an Mtech degree in Metallurgy from NIT Rourkela. Technically he is an Ultrasonic specialist, currently working as an executive in Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).

He is married since year 1979 and had a son and a daughter.

Literary Works

He is basically a short stories writer and has written more than 200 short stories published with different renowned magazines in Oriya. His stories have been translated in Hindi, Telgu etc. He is also a novelist and has published 6 novels in Oriya. He is a psychological writer, most of his stories and novels deal with human psychology, the life of grassroot level people. He is majorily appreciated for his depth of feelings in family life, which reflects in his literary work.

He is been the proud Recipient of Sourav Shree, Jiban Ranga, Amrutayana, Shajogi, Baisakhi, Adi Kavi Sarala, Vyasa Kavi, Swosti Jhankar, Neelachakra, Veda Vyasa etc.
