Postal Orders of the British Field Post Offices in Afghanistan

British postal orders have been issued by the British Field Post Offices in Afghanistan since at least 2002, shortly after the overthrow of the extremely brutal Taliban regime in late 2001. Information AbOUT these postal orders are extremely sketchy, as the location of BFPOs is usually a closely guarded secret in the British Armed Forces.

Postal orders issued at BFPO 758, Kabul have been confirmed, as a 50 Pence postal order is known to be in a private collection in New Zealand. This bears the postmark datestamp 'KABUL BFPO 758 Post Office'.

It is possible that BFPOs may have been opened in other towns and cities, including Kandahar, given the fact that the main area of operations for the British Army in Afghanistan is in Helmand Province.

These are very sought after by collectors, due to the secrecy of where BFPOs are located.
