PONY Book Club

PONY, The World’s First and Favorite Horse Book Club for Kids, is an American direct mail book club published by Stabenfeldt, Inc., a division of Stabenfeldt International, with over 200,000 boy and girl members worldwide.

PONY is known as a high quality book club for horse and pony loving youngsters. Its packages arrive in the members’ homes monthly. The optimal ages for children in the club, particularly young girls, are 8 to 13, although there are boys and girls younger and older.

In each package members receive at least one fiction book, frequently two, as well as several good-quality fun gifts including items for kids and horses, a surprise gift, and a copy of PONY, the monthly magazine for and by club members. Typical gift items are CD books, CD-Rom games, board games, jewelry, clothing for home and stable, school supplies, stationery, beautiful horse posters, horse figurines or horse grooming equipment. The books may include fiction, fact books, reference books, photo storybooks or comic books, in all genres from comedy to mystery.

In 2007 PONY has produced its first feature-length film about a girl and a horse, called Monocerus the Mysterious Unicorn, which was given to the members in one of the special monthly packages.

STABENFELDT International: PONY is an imprint of Stabenfeldt Inc., a publishing company in Connecticut, which in turn is a publishing arm of Stabenfeldt International, a 75-plus-year old publishing company that publishes several book clubs, including PONY for girls.
