Polycarp (2007 Film)

Polycarp is a 2007 feature film directed by George Lekovic and starring Charles Durning & Michael Paré. It is a horror/thriller set in Hoboken, New Jersey. It premiered as the opening film of the 2007 Hoboken International Film Festival on June 1, 2007.It is being distributed on DVD in North America by Vivendi/Universal.

Plot

Through a series of horrific murders, the occult, biblical prophecy and [...] clash in a melee of gore and mystery, with psychiatrists, attorneys, [...] detectives and rock stars all being suspects.

Trivia

  • A two-word walk-on role was auctioned for $11,000 at a Steven Spielberg/Jon Voight charity event — a sum significantly greater than paid for any other auctioned roles, including those in films like Baby Geniuses 3 and the hit TV shows Scrubs and Medium.
  • The title "Polycarp" is a reference to Polycarp of Smyrna, a Christian bishop of Smyrna in the second century. He died a martyr when he was stabbed after an attempt to burn him at the stake failed. Polycarp is recognized as a saint in both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches.
