Pistons–Heat rivalry

The '''Pistons–Heat rivalry''' is a rivalry between two professional [[basketball]] teams, the [[Detroit Pistons]] and the [[Miami Heat]], of the [[National Basketball Association]].
==Background==
The rivalry began in the mid 2000s when both the Pistons and Heat were title contenders.

==2005 Playoffs==
During the 2004-2005 Playoffs, the Miami Heat had the NBA's best record, and had been 8-0 going into the conference finals against Detroit. However Detroit upset Miami, by winning game 7 of the series in Miami, going to the Finals against the [[San Antonio Spurs]]. The Pistons would eventually lose 4 Games to 3.

==2006 Playoffs==
The 2005-2006 playoffs were the exact opposite of 2005 playoffs. The Pistons had the best record in the East and they were heavy favorite over the Heat. But Miami took a 3-1 series lead after Game 4. The Pistons won game 5 in Detroit, but that only delayed the inevitable. The Heat won Game 6, and advanced to the NBA Finals, where they defeated the [[Dallas Mavericks]] 4 Games to 2.
