Pinecam.com
Pinecam.com is a community web site serving a several hundred square mile region along US 285, in the foothills of Colorado.
The site was originally founded by Wayne Harrison in 1994 for those interested in mushroom hunting in the mountains of Colorado.
Since May of 1996, when the web site became an online source of information during the Buffalo Creek Fire, it has grown into an forum of over 6,500 members. Since that time, it has blossomed into a combination of many topics. These topics include a combination of fire watchers, which monitor the events of area fires; an active political/religious forum; and an active troop support group. Pinecam's Living Room is a popular community meeting place, as are the employment, classifieds and newsroom forums. What began as an online information forum, has also adopted part of HWY 285 on the north and south mile of Pine Junction and also meets for breakfast once a week.
Mr. Harrison sold Pinecam to the community in September 2005 for the amount of $1. Pinecam is now operated by an all-volunteer board of directors. It was voted "Best Local Web Site" by Mountain Connections Magazine in 2006.
