Piers Lea

Piers Lea (born 1961), is a British businessman, who is currently Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LINE Communications. He founded the company in 1989.

Early life

The son of soldier, judge and lay priest, Christopher Lea, he was born near Reading, Berkshire, UK, in 1961. He was educated at the Courtauld Institute and the University of London.

Professional career

He has worked in distance learning and communications since his time at the University of London. From here, he worked for Channel 4, EPIC and Video Arts before founding LINE Communications in 1989.

He works in both a strategic and consultative level within LINE Communications and has developed learning and communications solutions for clients such as BP, Ford of Europe, Anglo American, BT, Nokia, Volvo Car Corporation, Department for Education and Skills, The Ministry of DeFence, University for Industry, National College for School Leadership and the BBC.

He has led LINE Communications to become the UK’s largest bespoke e-learning provider. In 2009, his achievements were recognised by the industry, when he collected the E-Learning Industry Award for Outstanding Achievement.

In January 2011 he was ranked in the top two corporate e-learning movers and shakers in the UK and top six in Europe.

Personal life

He married in 1991 and has two daughters.
