Phillip Spearman
Phillip Spearman is an award winning, half Korean half African-American tattoo artist, based out of Los Angeles, California.
At the age of 21, Spearman started tattooing friends, eventually leading to the opening of his own shop, InkWorks Tattoo and Body Piercing in Artesia, California in 2002.
Background
Spearman is the son of a Korean mother and African-American father, and has found an interest in his Korean ancestries' art. “I’m starting to find my own niche in bringing Korean art to the forefront with tattoos. Right now it’s mostly only Chinese and Japanese tattoos...” says spearman in an interview featured on juxtapoz.com. Phillip Spearman has been making guest appearances in tattoo shops across the country and the world and has acted as an ambassador for the tattoo culture in Korea.
Other ventures
Spearman has develop a line of high quality tattooing needles and is planning on releasing a compiling portfolio and DVD of his Korean inspired art work.
